The Pissu Sanniya Mask is a traditional Sri Lankan mask handcrafted from 100% Kaduru wood, skillfully carved and painted by local artisans. This mask, a part of the well-known Sanni Yakuma ritual, represents the demon associated with mental illness or madness . In the image, the mask features an exaggerated expression with bulging red-rimmed eyes, large tusk-like teeth, and a wide-open red mouth with a protruding tongue, all designed to vividly depict chaos and mental disturbance. The use of intense colors like fiery red, black, and vivid green symbolizes energy, heat, and spiritual force, echoing the ancient belief in the power of colors to influence human well-being.
