The Jungle Tide is a serene tea estate bungalow that is located a short distance away from Kandy while it offers perfect mountain views, fresh air and a beautiful garden that is filled with birds and plants. Owned by a British Couple and with a few resident staff members, the bungalow boasts of a homely setting and offers comfortable rooms. Home cooked meals are available upon request while there is an outdoor swimming pool for guests to have some fun. Croquet or badminton can be enjoyed on the lawn while exploring the surroundings is always a fun activity.
LocationLocated approximately 11 km away from the centre of Kandy, Jungle Tide is a tea estate bungalow that is found off the beaten path with gorgeous mountains views to wake up to in the mornings. Located at an elevation of about 300 meters higher than Kandy, Jungle Tide is situated at the summit of the Hantane Tea Estate. The last 20 minutes or so of the ride can be a bit bumpy but the views that await you make up for it. Transport can be arranged accordingly from the Bandaranaike International Airport or the Kandy Railway Station depending on the guests preference.
AccommodationJungle Tide consists of three rooms in the guest wing of the main house, a separate garden room located towards the pool and a fourth double room that is the one that the owners use and can be booked when reserving the entire bungalow. All rooms are en-suite along with a private section of veranda and veranda furniture for guests to relax. Furniture are of mahogany wood while curtains and covers are of raw silk. Due to the high elevation of the property, air-conditioning is not required. Fans are available just in case it gets a little warmer. Mosquitoes are rare but nets are available if required.
FacilitiesBoasting of a modern take on the traditional planter's bungalow, Jungle Tide is a British Homestay located in the hills of central Sri Lanka. The bungalow offers a flexible meal plan with the basic price being for bed and breakfast which consists of simple Sri Lankan or Western Meals. Unlimited tea, coffee and drinking water is available while you can decide on extras, lunch and dinner accordingly. Meals can be prepared upon request while dinner is served on the day of arrival unless you request not to. If the weather is agreeable, a barbecue can be arranged by the pool. Other than the swimming pool where you can enjoy a cool dip, guests can also enjoy some badminton or croquet on the lawn area. Guests can also relax in the verandah and enjoy a good read or help themselves to a collection of DVD's that are available.
Excursions and Day ToursIf you are holidaying at the Jungle Tide, then a trip to the historical city of Kandy is a must. The city still boasts of its regal chronicles while well known landmarks of the sacred city include the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Kandy Museum and the Kandy Lake. There are many small roadside shops that sell local artefacts and hand-loom items which are favoured among tourists. Other places of interest include the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya and the Ceylon Tea Museum which is en-route to Jungle Tide from Kandy. The local tea factory which is close by is open for tours at very low rates allowing guests to witness the process of making some of the finest Ceylon Teas. If you like the hustle and bustle of the city, the Kandy Market area is ideal.
